Craig Stewart successfully represents clients from a broad array of industries in complex litigation, providing sound counsel when their reputations are on the line.

His clients rely on Craig for help in commercial, cybersecurity/privacy/data breach, class action, resources/environmental, and lawyer professional liability litigation. 

Craig has extensive trial experience in state and federal courts and administrative tribunals, including trials in cases involving disputes over corporate governance and control, complex contract interpretation, validity of mining claims, mining joint ventures, and natural resource damages under CERCLA. 

Craig is a Certified Information Privacy Professional through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Craig serves as counsel to the firm. He led Holland & Hart’s 100-lawyer Commercial Litigation Practice Group from 2010-2017.

  • Lead lawyer for client with major data breach; successfully resolved reporting and related issues.

  • Lead lawyer for defendant in Telephone Consumer Protection Act class action; no class was certified and successfully resolved matter with named plaintiff only.

  • Lead lawyer in jury trial in federal court defending major oil and gas client facing breach of contract, fraud, and tort claims with alleged damages of $12 million plus punitive damages; achieved dismissal of all tort claims, and complete defense verdict on breach of contract claims

  • Lead lawyer representing former owner of lead mine in environmental case with RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and tort claims; resolved claims with client contributing no funds toward global settlement with value of more than $25 million.

  • Lead lawyer for AmLaw 200 firm in legal malpractice case; claims against client dismissed on motion for summary judgment.

  • Lead lawyer for AmLaw 200 firm in legal malpractice defense case; negotiated favorable settlement for client prior to deposition discovery.

  • Lead lawyer in commercial contract case against Fortune 50 client; successful motion for summary judgment to defeat fraud and tort claims.

  • Lead lawyer representing major oil and gas client in rulemaking proceedings before the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.

  • Represented major oil and gas company in class action royalty litigation; case resolved successfully before trial.

  • Tried four-week administrative proceeding regarding validity of mining claims.
