Janet Harris

For more than 30 years, Janet has represented clients in a myriad of complex transactions involving the acquisition, exploration, development, operation and divestiture of oil and gas properties.

Janet also advises clients on public land matters pertaining to federal, state and Native American lands. Janet has broad experience with exploratory and secondary recovery units, Bureau of Land Management and various Rocky Mountain state land board procedures, operating issues, and title examination.

Janet also engages in a water rights practice, which includes the development of water supplies for mining and oil and gas operations, adjudication of water rights, drafting plans of augmentation, changes in use and points of diversion, the purchase and sale of water rights, and title examination of water rights.

Janet is admitted to practice in Colorado, North Dakota, and Wyoming.

  • $949 million purchase by The Williams Companies, Inc. of an entity owning producing and undeveloped Bakken assets on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, North Dakota.

  • $700 million sale by WPX Energy Production, LLC of oil and gas assets in the San Juan Basin, New Mexico.

  • $345 million purchase by Lario Oil and Gas Co. of oil and gas assets in the Permian Basin, Texas.

  • $306 million sale by WPX Energy Gulf Coast, et al. of oil and gas assets in the Barnett Shale, Texas and Arkoma Basin, Oklahoma.

  • $353 million sale of oil and gas assets in the Piceance Basin, Colorado.

  • $285 million purchase of oil and gas leases, wells, gas gathering system, gas plant and gas processing assets, Piceance Basin, Colorado.

  • Purchase of wells and undeveloped oil and gas assets in the Denver-Julesburg Basin, Wattenberg Field, Colorado.

  • Sale of undeveloped Niobrara leasehold and related assets in the Denver-Julesburg Basin from Lario Oil and Gas Company to ConocoPhillips Company.
