Holland & Hart Bolsters Wyoming Litigation Practice with Former Civil AUSA Jasmine Peters

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (May 20, 2026) — Holland & Hart LLP announced today that Jasmine Peters, former Civil Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) and state circuit court magistrate, has joined the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group in Cheyenne.

Peters spent nearly five years as a Civil AUSA for the District of Wyoming, where she handled a wide range of federal civil matters—from Federal Tort Claims Act defense and civil rights cases to oil and gas disputes, foreclosures, and bankruptcy proceedings. She also served as the office's Financial Litigation Coordinator and Civil Rights Coordinator, overseeing complex financial investigations and managing matters that spanned attorney, investigative, and administrative functions.

Before working at the U.S. Attorney's Office, Peters served as a magistrate in the Circuit Court for the First Judicial District of Laramie County, presiding over criminal and civil matters, including sentencings, arraignments, and motion hearings. She also served as a Title 25 District Court Commissioner and a staff attorney for the Honorable Steven K. Sharpe. She began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Nancy D. Freudenthal of the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming.

"Attorneys with Jasmine's depth of state and federal litigation experience are rare," said Commercial Litigation Practice Group Leader Matt Smith. "Her courtroom credentials are exceptional, her range of experience is broad, and she brings exactly the kind of practical, firsthand knowledge of Wyoming’s trial and appellate courts that our clients value. We are thrilled to have her."

Peters said the move to private practice was a natural next step after nearly a decade in public service.

"What I loved most was diving deep into the research, crafting the arguments, and seeing them through," Peters said. "Joining the firm gives me the opportunity to bring that same dedication directly to clients—helping them navigate complex litigation and achieve the best possible outcomes. That is what drives me, and I could not imagine a better place to do it."

Active in her community, Peters serves as a board member of Make-A-Wish Wyoming, where she has volunteered as a wish granter since 2018. She previously served on the board of directors of Habitat for Humanity, Laramie County as well.

Peters earned her J.D., Order of the Coif, with honor, from the University of Wyoming College of Law and her B.S., magna cum laude, from Ball State University.
