U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Recognizes Denver as Innovation Hub
Holland & Hart is very pleased to welcome the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to Colorado. The Monday announcement of plans to open a regional PTO office in Denver ushers in a new era. Denver was recognized as a hub of innovation and creativity. This new PTO office will help protect and foster innovation, and allow our clients to cut through red tape.
Holland & Hart has long been at the forefront of this initiative, as Partner Michael Drapkin was one of the visionaries leading the effort to expand the Patent Office outside the beltway. This effort began more than four years ago, with numerous trips to Washington, D.C. and hundreds of hours of policy work and lobbying efforts directed at local, state and federal leaders.
"This is a wonderful achievement for Denver and the State of Colorado, and would not have been possible without remarkable efforts from our elected officials and local business leaders," said Drapkin. "We're now ready to take the next step, and realize the opportunity to make a real difference for the PTO."
As we look ahead to the future of IP, we anticipate continued growth and attention shifting to Colorado. Added Drapkin, "this is a true validation that Colorado's innovation and technology community has arrived." We at Holland & Hart look forward to continuing to help shape the industry landscape in service to our clients.
