Two Holland & Hart Attorneys Selected As Leading Corporate Tax Lawyers

DENVER (May 17, 2006) - Holland & Hart is pleased to announce that John Maxfield and Larry Petersen were named leading corporate tax attorneys by Who's Who Legal USA for 2006.

The attorneys selected for this honor were nominated by their peers as the country's leading practitioners in corporate tax law. Only 215 lawyers were selected nationally, with only two in Colorado and five in Montana.

Mr. Maxfield is Partner in the firm's Denver office and the Practice Group Manager for the Tax and Estates group. He has 23 years of federal income tax experience and has extensive experience in virtually all areas of federal income taxation. He has assisted clients in the tax aspects of structuring the formation, acquisition, disposition, spin-off, operation, and liquidation of businesses and corporate joint ventures of all sizes in most industries, including telecommunications, venture capital fund formation, recapitalization, manufacturing, health care, retailing, advanced technology, oil and gas, mining, agricultural, banking and real estate. Mr. Maxfield also represents taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service at both the audit and appellate levels.

Mr. Petersen is Of Counsel in the firm's Billings office and has been practicing law for more than 36 years. His practice focuses on tax, estate planning, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, and natural resources. He has extensive experience with probate matters; formation of LLC’s, partnerships and corporations; coal leasing, mergers and acquisitions, and entity formation; purchase and sale of oil and gas and entity formation; and health care.
