Scott Barker Named Chair of Holland & Hart's Litigation Practice

Holland & Hart is pleased to announce that Scott Barker has been named Chair of the firm's 200-lawyer trial/litigation department.

"Our practice has always included a superb litigation and trial component," said Tom O'Donnell, Managing Partner. "Scott will provide invaluable leadership in continuing to grow that practice. As a former Chair of the firm's Management Committee, and a battle-tested trial lawyer, Scott brings a unique combination of management skills and courtroom experience to the job."

Of his new role, Scott says, "I am excited to further build and develop Holland & Hart's trial team. We have a dynamite group that has achieved great success for our clients, including the largest monetary jury verdict in Colorado for 2008, prevailing in a grand jury and SEC fraud investigation, and most recently winning the first natural gas royalty case defense verdict under Rogers. We plan to continue servicing our clients with this same impassioned advocacy."

In addition to taking on the leadership role, Scott emphasizes, "I intend to continue my active trial practice. I believe that doing so will enhance my value as a leader of trial lawyers, and, besides, I love the courtroom!"

Scott has practiced law at Holland & Hart for 28 years, during which time he has tried more than 70 cases. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Barker has extensive experience in complex civil litigation, including class actions. In 2003, he was selected in a poll of his peers as the Best Business Litigator in Denver. He is also consistently listed in The Best Lawyers in America, as a top Colorado commercial litigator, in Chambers USA, and in Colorado Super Lawyers. He is one of the most seasoned trial lawyers in the Mountain West.
