Rachel Gillette Named Outstanding Women in Business by Denver Business Journal

(Last Updated August 20, 2021)

Holland & Hart is pleased to announce that Denver-based partner Rachel Gillette has been selected as a 2021 Denver Business Journal Outstanding Women in Business (OWIB). Read Rachel Gillette's 2021 OWIB feature here and read the 2021 OWIB special report with all the honorees here.

The Outstanding Women in Business award recognizes and honors the region's women leaders who are guiding their companies through a moment of tremendous change in both business and society. Nominees were appraised by an editorial panel based on leadership within their organization and industry, career accomplishments, and community involvement. This year, winners were scored only on their merits, without limitations of sector categories.

Rachel was selected as an outstanding woman in business as a leader in the cannabis industry. As one of the first lawyers in the country to dedicate her practice to cannabis law, Rachel was at the vanguard of the movement to legalize retail marijuana in Colorado and is a passionate advocate for the industry. Rachel was the executive director of the Colorado chapter of NORML, the National Organization to Reform Marijuana Laws, and she was a founding member of both Women Grow and the National Cannabis Bar Association (now, the International Cannabis Bar Association).

Rachel is a sought-after strategic legal advisor to startups, established cannabis operations, investors, and entities providing goods and services at all points along the supply chain.  She brings more than a decade of experience helping clients navigate complex regulatory, financial, and operational challenges to capitalize on business opportunities. She draws on experience interfacing with regulators and taxing authorities in multiple jurisdictions to counsel clients how to obtain licenses and permits and guides clients through tax audits, challenges, and adjustments at the local, state, and federal level.

The Denver Business Journal will celebrate each of the Outstanding Women in Business award winners and one Lifetime Achievement Award honoree for their accomplishments and for leading the charge in changing the way companies do business at the virtual awards celebration on August 19. Honorees will also be featured in the August 20 Special Section published online and in print.
