The 2018 National High School Mock Trial Steering Committee & Trial Case Committee received one of this year’s Volunteer of the Year awards by the State Bar of Nevada. The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes outstanding service by members of a state bar committee or section.
Each year approximately 30,000 students participate in local high school mock trial competitions across 45 jurisdictions, including the United States, Guam, South Korea, and the Northern Mariana Islands. The 2018 National High School Mock Trial Competition highlighted the best teams competing for the championship title. The State Bar of Nevada and the Nevada Bar Foundation hosted this year’s event in Reno, Nevada in May, also recognizing Nevada’s 20th anniversary of high school mock trial participation.
The Mock Trial Steering Committee included Holland & Hart Las Vegas Partner and Vice-Chair Connie Akridge, along with Chair Paul Matteoni, Cynthia Alexander, Jannette Bloom, Don Christensen, Mark Knobel, Gene Leverty, Diane C. Marsh, and Justice Nancy Saitta (Ret.). The Mock Trial Steering Committee & Trial Case Committee received recognition at the 2018 State Bar of Nevada Annual Meeting held July 12-14 in Chicago.
