DENVER (Nov. 8, 2010) -- Jon Bender was awarded the 2010 Sandra Day O'Connor Award for Professional Service at the U.S. Supreme Court on Oct. 23. The award was given by the American Inns of Court for excellence in public interest or pro bono activities.
The American Inns of Court established the Sandra Day O'Connor Award for Professional Service honoring an American Inn member in practice 10 or fewer years for excellence in public interest or pro bono activities. The purpose of the Award is to honor an Inn member each year for exemplary service and to honor Justice O'Connor for being the paragon of professional service throughout her distinguished career while exemplifying legal excellence, civility, ethics and professionalism.
Bender’s legal practice focuses on corporate, real estate, environmental, and professional negligence litigation matters. He represents clients in a variety of industries, including mining, real estate, oil and gas, and financial services. He has significant experience defending Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act claims, Colorado Organized Crime Control Act claims, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act claims, and he regularly assists members of the Colorado General Assembly in responding to Colorado Open Records Act requests.
