Holland & Hart LLP is pleased to announce that John Wilson has been appointed the new director of the University of Denver’s Graduate Tax Program (GTP). A tax partner in the Denver office, Wilson advises clients on complex corporate and individual tax matters, mergers and acquisitions, international business transactions, and IRS audits and appeals. Wilson also has been a longtime teacher in the GTP.
Wilson received both his undergraduate and law degrees from Stanford University. He has served as the chair of both the Taxation Law Committee and the International Law Committee of the Colorado Bar Association. Wilson is listed in the Best Lawyers in America in Tax Law (International) and is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel.
One of the largest programs of its kind in the nation, the GTP ranks among the top 20 best tax programs in the country according to U.S. News & World Report (2014). It is one of only a handful of graduate tax programs which bring together accountants and lawyers to study side-by-side, allowing students from each discipline to learn the skills and expertise of the other profession. “John is the perfect choice for us,” says Sturm College of Law Dean Martin Katz. “He is a top-shelf practitioner with a gift for teaching and mentoring. His expertise and his deep connections with the Denver tax community will truly benefit our students.”
Wilson begins his new role as director on December 8. He will remain a partner with Holland & Hart continuing his tax law practice.
