About GUNNY
GUNNY provides an insider's view of Alabama's intriguing culture and stormy political heritage between WWI and 1965. This panoramic biography follows Mobile's most controversial figure through the Depression, Prohibition, WWII, and Alabama's volatile post-war political landscape. When the 1946 State Legislature chose to prevent blacks and war veterans from voting, Gunny took up their cause against a tide of prominent fellow white politicians, newspapers, state political party leaders, and judges. History records the stunning and profound moment when Gunny squared off against his own lawyer, Alabama’s Attorney General, in federal court before three judges and confronted Alabama's high tide of white supremacy.
GUNNY is available through Amazon.com and Academy Books at www.academybooks.net.
