Holland & Hart is proud to announce partner J. William Callison has been selected as the 2022 recipient of the Martin I. Lubaroff Award by the American Bar Association’s Section of Business Law, LLCs, Partnerships and Unincorporated Entities Committee. This prestigious award, considered to be the highest honor that a business entity attorney can receive, will be presented to Bill at the 2022 LLC Institute in November.
Bill has been an active member of the ABA’s Business Law Section and the LLCs, Partnerships and Unincorporated Entities Committee, which devotes its energies considering the interrelationship of unincorporated business entity law with numerous other areas of law in which there is interface including bankruptcy, federal and state tax, litigation, and the application of the Uniform Commercial Code.
The Martin I. Lubaroff Award annually recognizes a nationally regarded business attorney and member of the LLCs, Partnerships and Unincorporated Entities Committee who has consistently demonstrated leadership, scholarship, and outstanding service in business entity law. The award was established in 2001 to honor the memory of Marty Lubaroff, known as the quintessential lawyer - careful, thorough, exacting, engaging, insightful, precise, provocative, and persistent, while gentle, kind, and courteous. He was a good friend and mentor to scores of lawyers in Delaware and throughout the US. Marty was a long-time member of and key participant in the Committee.
Bill is a preeminent practitioner in LLC and partnership law and is an authority on laws governing fiduciary duties. Bill is also sought-after as a consulting or testifying expert witness in corporate, LLC, partnership, contract, professional malpractice, and related legal matters. His practice also focuses on guiding clients in the affordable housing industry to implement creative equity and debt financing on projects in Colorado and nationwide. Bill served as Vice Chair and Chair of the ABA’s Affordable Housing and Community Development Forum from 2013 to 2016. Bill is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and serves as a member of the American Law Institute.
