ICE continues to be active in worksite enforcement actions throughout the horse industry, including recently in Wellington and Ocala. Form I-9 audits and worksite enforcement actions continue to be the hot topic of the day. Now that immigration-related offenses have been designated “the investigative and charging priorities” of the United States, Homeland Security Investigations and a broad assortment of additional federal and state agencies are descending upon employers who fail properly to verify the identities and employment eligibility of their workers or ensure their staffing agencies and contractors are complying with established law.
In addition, for employers who offer sponsorship to foreign nationals, they must navigate an ever-changing landscape. With U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services now branded as a law enforcement agency, with the Department of Labor rolling out “Project Firewall”, and with the Fraud Detection and National Security increasing onsite visits, the stakes for employers have never been higher.
This webinar will outline current enforcement trends and show employers how to prepare for onsite visits, develop effective policies, perform internal reviews and reduce your risk, and reduce potential exposure against this new brand of enforcement activity.
