Idaho's New Healthcare Whistleblower / Conscience Law

Webinar Only

Idaho’s new Medical Ethics Defense Act protects providers who decline to participate in treatment that conflicts with their conscience; however, the law also adds a broader, more concerning whistleblower private cause of action that extends beyond conscience situations to any allegation of a violation of law, regulation, or ethical guidelines or “gross mismanagement, … waste of funds, … abuse of authority, or … danger to public health or safety.” Successful employees or other plaintiffs may recover reinstatement, damages, costs and fees. The new law significantly increases the risk for healthcare employers and facilities credentialing healthcare providers. This complimentary webinar will address:

  • The new conscience standards and protections.
  • The new whistleblower cause of action.
  • Consequences for violations.
  • Considerations and actions for minimizing liability.
