Health Law Basics Webinar - ICD-10 Arrives

It is no secret that CMS has mandated that the U.S. Health care industry implement the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10) on October 1, 2015. This means that claims for all HIPAA-covered entities with a date of service or date of discharge of October 1, 2015 or later that are submitted using the old ICD-9 codes will be rejected and result in delays in payment. While providers have been preparing for the new coding system for months, this program will provide a final review and a chance to ask questions as we enter a new era. The program will address:

  • ICD-10 clinical modification (ICD-10-CM) and ICD-10 procedure code system (ICD-10-PCS)
  • When and under what circumstances ICD-10 codes are required
  • The impact of ICD-10 on Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes
  • Use of ICD-10 codes when a definitive diagnosis has not been established by the end of an encounter
  • Use of General Equivalent Mappings (GEMs)
  • The legal and financial implications of ICD-10, including CMS audits and Meaningful Use penalties

There is no charge for this webinar.
