Holland & Hart announced the licensing of Kira, a software program powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence that expedites due diligence review in M&A transactions. Kira is one of many innovative technology solutions the firm deploys to enhance the delivery of services to clients.
Kira identifies, extracts, and analyzes text in contracts, forms, and other documents in virtually any file format and provides summary reports on key terms and provisions. Kira automatically highlights important contractual provisions and organizes the data for analysis. The dashboard allows team leaders to assign documents to reviewers, keep track of which documents or provisions have been reviewed, escalate problems, and communicate with the project review team.
“M&A transactions often move quickly and reviewing large numbers of documents can take a significant amount of time,” said Chris Groll, leader of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions group. “Kira’s sophisticated technology allows us to accelerate the due diligence process, providing accurate, deal-critical results to our clients more efficiently and cost effectively. Instead of expending our resources on time consuming page-by-page document review, our team can focus on delivering high-value analysis and advice to support our clients’ strategic transactional goals. Using Kira has enabled review teams to significantly streamline our workflow resulting in tangible cost savings for our clients,” explained Groll.
“Investing in innovative solutions that automate workflows and allow us to create value for our clients through the use of technology is a strategic priority for the firm,” said Duc Chu, the firm’s Technology Innovation Officer. “We are continually exploring how we can leverage machine learning tools like Kira, that offer efficient alternatives to traditional approaches of accomplishing routine tasks. In addition to implementing third-party technology solutions, our in-house development team uses machine learning technology to build sophisticated, market-leading tools to deliver practical and comprehensible legal advice faster, at a lower cost,” added Chu.
