Denver partner Brenda Berg has been appointed Practice Group Leader (PGL) for the firm’s Tax and Benefits group. A longtime leader in the firm, Brenda is replacing Denver partner Laura Dinan, who served as PGL for the Tax and Benefits group for the past three years. As PGL, Brenda will provide strategic leadership and management of the Tax and Benefits group as well as continuing to support her clients across tax and ERISA matters affecting employee benefit plans.

Brenda has been an employee benefits attorney for over 20 years and a third-party administrator for 401(k) plans before that. She helps employers stay ahead of their fiduciary duties and all of the changing rules and “best practices” that help their employee benefits programs run smoothly - and finding practical solutions when they don’t. Her experience includes advising companies on benefits plan corporate governance, fiduciary, tax and administration issues, drafting plan documents including defined benefit plans and welfare plans, and guiding employers through plan corrections and DOL and IRS audits, employee benefits due diligence in mergers and acquisitions, and Section 409A compliance.
