Holland & Hart Welcomes Tax Controversy Partner Jennifer Benda

Holland & Hart announced that leading tax controversy and litigation attorney Jennifer Benda has joined the firm as a partner in the Denver office.

Jennifer handles high dollar value, sensitive tax matters with significant legal issues at stake for businesses and individuals. In disputes with the IRS and state and local tax authorities, she is a deft, respected negotiator in reaching out-of-court solutions; and an ardent advocate, litigating issues to ensure her clients receive even-handed treatment. She is respected by clients for her ability to navigate complex situations and provide front-line protection with the goal of alleviating the stress clients experience when facing scrutiny from tax authorities.

“Jennifer is an excellent addition to our firm,” said Chris Balch, firm chair. “She brings sophisticated expertise that aligns well with our national strategic growth initiatives for both our Tax and Benefits group and our Cannabis Industry group.”

Jennifer also helps clients plan and implement proactive tax strategies to protect their assets and achieve their business and financial goals. She is a sought-after expert witness on complex tax issues, providing opinions in federal and state court litigation as well as arbitrations.

“We are delighted to welcome Jennifer to our growing tax team,” said Steve Young, leader of the firm’s Tax and Benefits practice group. “Jennifer is dual-ranked by Chambers USA in Tax in Colorado and in Cannabis Law Nationwide, and she is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel. As a tax attorney and a former CPA handling complex and emerging tax issues, she will be an asset to our tax controversy team and the firm’s clients.”

“Holland & Hart’s deep bench of talented tax practitioners and collaborative team approach are just some of the reasons I was drawn to join the firm,” said Ms. Benda. “The firm’s industry-savvy cannabis team will be a huge asset to my clients, providing a breadth of legal services beyond my tax counsel.”

Before joining Holland & Hart, Jennifer practiced at two Am Law 100 firms and a mid-sized Denver firm.
