Holland & Hart is proud to announce that for the tenth time it has been honored as one of the “Best Law Firms for Women” by Working Mother. As a firm that has been recognized ten times or more, the firm also earns designation on Working Mother’s Hall of Fame.
The list of Best Law Firms for Working Mothers, which has been published for 13 years, showcases law firms’ efforts and successes in finding, retaining, promoting, and developing women lawyers. The 2020 Working Mother Best Law Firms for Women application, administered by the Working Mother Research Institute, included more than 300 questions about attorney demographics at different levels, schedule flexibility, paid time off and parental leaves, and development and retention of women.
Subra Barry, president of Working Mother Media noted, "Law firms on this year's list were better prepared to respond to the effects of the pandemic because of their continued support of flextime and remote work for working parents and caregivers. We are proud to recognize their resilience and steadfast commitment to supporting gender equality." All the firms on the 2020 list offer reduced hours and remote work for lawyers and this year’s research found 39% of female lawyers used remote work in 2019.
Holland & Hart has long been in the vanguard of supporting the success of women attorneys. An early-adopter of a formalized policy that enables lawyers to work on a reduced time basis, the firm’s first female reduced-time attorney took advantage of this opportunity almost 30 years ago. Holland & Hart was also one of the first law firms in its region to adopt a maternity leave policy in the 1980's, providing up to six months of leave (some paid, some unpaid)—practically unheard of at the time.
Earlier this year, Holland & Hart also received U.S. Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) for the tenth consecutive year, being one of only 12 firms to receive this recognition every year since WILEF began the award in 2011. The firm was also ranked tenth on the 2020 A-List: Female Equity Partner Scorecard by The American Lawyer.
