Holland & Hart Launches Academic Year Diversity Law Clerk Program

DENVER (October 31, 2007) - Holland & Hart launched its new Academic Year Diversity Law Clerk Program today as the first program participant, Nancy Ko, began her clerkship with the firm.

Ko is currently a student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law where she is co-president of the Legal Association of Women and an active member and past vice-president of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. Her professional experience includes working for two different law firms in San Francisco, Cali., and working for a Denver law firm focusing on insurance defense litigation. Ko earned her B.A. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.

"As a woman and Korean-American, I understand the challenges and barriers faced by minorities and many immigrants in this country," said Ko, whose parents immigrated from Korea in 1975 and reside in San Francisco, where she was raised. Ko says she believes diversity is critical to the professional growth and success of a law firm.

Holland & Hart announced the Academic Year Diversity Law Clerk Program earlier in the year. Clerks hired through this program work part-time at the firm during their second or third year of law school. Selection criteria include strong academic credentials, ethnic and racial background, sexual orientation, disability, and previous career experience.
