Holland & Hart IP partner Bob Ryan, based in the firm’s Reno office, was named to the annual 2016 IAM Strategy 300, which recognizes the world’s leading IP strategists, and identifies those IP professionals whom they believe deliver “top-tier services relating to the development and implementation of strategies which enable IP owners to maximize the value of their rights portfolios.”
Professionals are recognized in one of 14 categories for having an “established track record in developing and rolling out world-class IP value creation programmes.” The listing and selection process is based on a comprehensive research exercise, whereby IAM qualifies each individual through: nomination of the individual by at least three professionals, a consultation with referees, and further vetting through requests for further information from the individual about their work.
Bob is a registered patent attorney and is a member of Holland & Hart’s IP team comprising 80+ attorneys across the Rocky Mountain West. He handles a range of intellectual property procurement, transactional, and enforcement matters for clients, and has experience across numerous technologies, including electrical, electronic, mechanical, optics, software (from operating systems to complex applications), computing, satellite transmission, telecommunications, food science, gaming, petrochemicals, mining, and rocketry. He also litigates on behalf of his clients, and has been trial counsel in antitrust, patent cases and complex IP matters and held leading roles in scores of appeals. Bob was formerly a partner with one of the largest IP boutiques in the country, departed that firm in 1988 to co-found what became one of the largest IP firms in Chicago, and in 1996 departed the latter firm to successfully pursue high-tech start-up dreams in the Mountain West, using his start-up’s patent portfolio to drive a merger with a substantial public competitor in 2002.
