Holland & Hart Foundation Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Firmwide Service Projects

The Holland & Hart Foundation (Foundation) celebrates 25 years of community service and volunteerism this year!

In 1998, Holland & Hart firm leaders implemented co-founders Sam and Jean Guyton’s vision to form a dedicated nonprofit organization to foster volunteerism, camaraderie amongst colleagues, and the importance of giving back to the firm’s local communities.

Co-founder Jean Guyton shares, “We started the Foundation with the basic idea to bond with our colleagues and serve our communities. The Foundation’s extraordinary success has been possible because firm leaders had the foresight to realize the importance and potential of the Foundation.”

Through the Foundation, 15,826 volunteers have worked on 1,391 projects that served or impacted an estimated 269,065 people since 2014. Additional information about the history and milestones of the Foundation is available here.

To commemorate the Foundation’s 25th anniversary, each of the firm’s 13 offices chose a service activity supporting a local community organization. The local organizations supported in each market and project impacts are highlighted below:

  • Anchorage, Alaska: Supported Food Bank of Alaska by volunteering on an assembly line, packing almost 330 food boxes to be distributed to local senior centers in several Alaskan communities. The team had a blast supporting this rewarding service project.
  • Aspen, Colorado: Partnered with The Buddy Program by decorating and supplying festive frosting cans to be included in Gingerbread House Workshop kits for their annual event. The Buddy Program works with youth in the Roaring Fork Valley to provide adult and peer mentoring.
  • Billings, Montana: Supported the Tumbleweed Program of Billings by participating in a fun-filled “Supermarket Sweep” grocery store race. Nearly $500 worth of groceries were donated to Tumbleweed’s food pantry. The Tumbleweed Program is a non-profit, community-based agency which provides services to run away, homeless, and vulnerable youth and their families.
  • Boise, Idaho: Volunteers and family members partnered with Ceramica and participated in an “Empty Bowls” fundraiser event. The finished, hand-painted bowls are donated to The Idaho Foodbank and are available to purchase to raise money to help provide food assistance to local Idahoans experiencing food insecurity this winter.
  • Boulder, Colorado: Supported Community Food Share by volunteering at the warehouse sorting and packing food for distribution and hosted a fund and food drive. The office donated 40 pounds of food and raised over $2,370 to help provide meals for neighbors in need and support the goal of eliminating hunger in the community.
  • Cheyenne, Wyoming: Supported Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County by helping a Habitat partner family construct their new home. Volunteers worked together with the future homeowners to build and install several walls of the home and garage. It was a rewarding experience to help the family and their two young children see their future home come to life.
  • Denver, Colorado: Supported the Susan G. Komen 2023 Colorado More Than Pink Walk. Volunteers helped make a difference in the fight against breast cancer in Colorado by assisting with several activities needed at the event, including registration, assisting along the route, and helping with set up and clean up.
  • Jackson, Wyoming: Partnering with Jackson Hole Land Trust in the spring of 2024 to help with their continued development and preservation of Northwest Wyoming’s community open spaces.
  • Las Vegas, Nevada: Supported CORE, an organization that empowers students and families through enrichment and education, by holding a charity drive to provide gently used and new items identified from a needs list. In addition, in the spring of 2024, CORE students will be invited to the office for a lunch to learn more about legal professions.
  • Reno, Nevada: Partnered with Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) by participating in a community cleanup event at Sparks Marina. Volunteers equipped with gloves, trash grabbers, bags, and buckets, worked together to clean up the Marina’s 2-mile lake area.
  • Salt Lake City, Utah: Supported Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area by preparing 130 sack lunches for the Ronald McDonald House and Primary Children's Hospital for parents who have children in local hospitals to grab and go.
  • Santa Fe, New Mexico: Partnered with the Esperanza Shelter for its Seeds of Hope Children’s Halloween Party by volunteering and providing decorations, fun party bags, food, costume contest prizes, and festive crafts and games. This celebration created a positive life experience for the clients and their children who have experienced domestic violence situations.
  • Washington, DC: Supported Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) by helping sort and bag different types of peppers from a local farm to be distributed to neighbors in need. Volunteers packed about 100 bags of peppers each and as a team filled 19 crates.
