Holland & Hart Attorneys Slated To Speak At 2008 Hospitality Law Conference


DENVER (January 3, 2008) -
 Dennis Brown, Steven Gutierrez, and Thomas Hazard, partners at Holland & Hart LLP, will speak at the Sixth Annual Hospitality Law Conference, taking place February 11-13, 2008. 

Gutierrez and Hazard will speak on "Your USERRA Obligations and Other Sensitive Issues." This presentation will review employer's obligations under the Uniformed Services Employment & Reemployment Rights Act, as well as state anti-discrimination laws relating to sexual orientation and gender identity. The presentation will also cover living wage initiatives.

Brown and Gutierrez will then present "Understanding Duties of Care, Reasonable Care, Standards of Care, Negligence, and Gross Negligence," which will focus on providing an explanation of these complex legal terms so that lay people can understand the legal terminology and its impact on their businesses and guests.

About the Speakers
Brown's practice emphasizes complex civil litigation, including product liability, employment law, personal injury and other commercial matters. He has served as national and regional counsel for different companies and manufacturers and has represented his clients in courts throughout the United States. Brown has lectured on various legal topics and has taught legal ethics as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver College of Law.

Gutierrez is chair of Holland & Hart's Labor and Employment practice group. He has substantial litigation experience focusing on labor and employment, tort, and product liability litigation. Gutierrez speaks frequently at seminars on litigation strategies, fair employment and labor relations, and has provided training to professionals on a wide range of employment-related topics.

Hazard's practice focuses on defending management in employment litigation, including discrimination lawsuits, wage and hour matters, employee benefits cases, workplace torts, and wrongful discharge claims. In addition, he regularly represents employers in trade secret and unfair competition claims. Hazard is a frequent lecturer on labor and employment matters, unfair competition, and trade secret law.
