Holland & Hart is pleased to announce that Of Counsel and Government Affairs Director Sarah Clerget has been named to the State of Montana Energy Task Force, recently created by Governor Greg Gianforte through an Executive Order. Sarah will represent the Montana Large Customer Group, a coalition of large electric consumers that includes refineries, manufacturing companies, cement companies, mining companies, and pipeline companies. She will also co-lead the "Growing Demand" subcommittee with Travis Kavulla, vice president of regulatory affairs at NRG and former commissioner on the Montana Public Service Commission and serve alongside 19 other members representing state agencies, legislators, local officials, association representatives, economists, researchers, and stakeholders.
Energy Task Force members are charged with providing recommendations that the legislature could consider, and that the governor could sign into law, to address complex energy issues facing Montana and to increase the supply of affordable and reliable energy options. The Energy Task Force met for the first time on September 22, and members will produce a written report with recommendations and strategies by October 15, 2026.
Sarah brings valuable expertise in government affairs and regulatory matters to the task force. Her deep network of relationships with Montana legislators, elected and appointed officials, government agencies, and industry leaders, combined with her experience as a former Assistant Attorney General and agency counsel for the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, positions her well to contribute to Montana's energy future. Sarah's insider knowledge of conducting business with Montana government and her track record of helping clients navigate complex regulatory and policy issues will be invaluable to the task force's mission. Sarah’s being named to this task force reflects Holland & Hart's continued commitment to supporting responsible energy development and policy initiatives across the Mountain West.
