Holland & Hart Attorney Appointed to Consensus Docs Advisory Council

SALT LAKE CITY (June 16, 2009) - Holland & Hart LLP today announced that Melissa A. Orien, an attorney in the firm's Salt Lake City and Las Vegas offices, has been appointed to the ConsensusDOCS Advisory Council.

ConsensusDOCS, a collection of over seventy new standard contract documents and forms for the construction industry, is a result of a unique coalition effort aimed at balancing the needs of diverse stakeholders in the construction industry. Twenty-two leading construction associations, including owners, contractors, design professionals and sub-contractors, have endorsed ConsensusDOCS as the standard for the industry. This effort is said to be the most significant construction industry development in the past twenty years.

The ConsensusDOCS Advisory Council is the national editorial group responsible for drafting and editing the ConsensusDOCS contracts and forms. As a member of the Advisory Council, Orien will work with other professionals to ensure that all ConsensusDOCS contracts and forms not only reflect the changes in the construction industry, but also serve the needs of every stakeholder in the industry.

Orien's legal practice focuses on counseling parties on virtually all aspects of construction projects, from drafting and negotiating complex construction contracts to facilitating project-level resolution of claims, and construction litigation and dispute resolution. Orien also compiles and edits the annual 50-State Construction Legislation and Caselaw Update prepared by Division 10 of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry. To further her interest in green and sustainable building, Orien chairs the Advocacy Subcommittee of the ABC National Green Building Council.

Orien recently passed the Green Building Council's LEED Accredited Professional test, becoming one of only two LEED AP attorneys in Nevada and three in Utah.
