DENVER (May 9, 2006) - Holland & Hart LLP is pleased to announce that Thorvald Nelson was appointed to the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission by Governor Bill Owens and confirmed by a unanimous vote of the Colorado Senate earlier this week.
Mr. Nelson is an attorney in Holland & Hart's Denver Tech Center office. He will serve on the board of the Commission for a three year term.
Mr. Nelson has worked in utility law for more than a decade, and his practice areas include public utility law, electric utility law, telecommunications law, natural gas utility law, water utility law, antitrust law, and environmental law. He has specialized in appearing before state utility regulatory commissions throughout the Rocky Mountain West including Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and New Mexico. He has also represented clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, in state and federal courts, and before state legislatures.
The Air Quality Control Commission was created in 1970 by the Colorado Legislature. The Commission develops air pollution control policies, regulates pollution sources and conducts hearings involving violations of the state's air pollution laws. The board consists of nine members who are appointed by the governor, with consent of the Senate, for three year terms.
