Full Steam Ahead: Understanding the Proposed New NEPA Regulations

For the first time in forty-two years, the Council on Environmental Quality has proposed a comprehensive upgrade to the regulations governing implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The proposed regulations, issued January 10, 2020, are intended to significantly streamline environmental reviews for projects that require federal government approval or financial assistance.
