Former EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler Joins Holland & Hart

DENVER (Apr. 2, 2024)—Holland & Hart LLP is pleased to announce that former EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler has joined the firm as a partner and Head of Federal Affairs in the Washington, DC office.

Wheeler brings Cabinet-level legislative and regulatory experience shaping environmental policy at the EPA and 14 years working on US Senate committees with oversight of the environment and climate change. Most recently, Wheeler also served as the Director of Office of Regulatory Management and Acting Secretary of Natural and Historic Resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

“Growing the Washington, DC office is a strategic priority for the firm, and Andrew is a critical addition to build our government affairs and regulatory practice,” said Firm Chair Chris Balch. “Andrew’s vast expertise in environmental policy will be a huge asset to our energy and natural resources clients. He also brings significant experience navigating the many operational and regulatory hurdles for clients in the technology and renewable energy industries.”

In addition to decades serving in federal government executive and policy roles, for nine years Wheeler provided federal regulatory and legislative counseling and advocacy services to clients across a variety of industries at then Faegre Baker Daniels Consulting, including leading the Federal Energy and Environment practice team.

“I have known Andrew since our days in the Senate, and I’m delighted to welcome a government affairs and policy strategist and leader of his caliber to the firm,” said Kelly Johnson, environmental partner and Administrative Partner of the Washington, DC office. “Andrew has broad relationships and networks on Capitol Hill, with federal agencies, and a spectrum of industries that will be valuable to clients facing regulatory hurdles that affect their current and future operations.”

“I am truly excited about the opportunity to build a team of bipartisan federal advocacy and policy professionals and be part of growing the firm’s dynamic Washington, DC office,” shared Wheeler. “I am impressed by Holland & Hart’s culture of collaboration and teamwork across offices, practices, and industries. I look forward to working closely with firm attorneys and other government affairs professionals to advance the interests of the firm’s clients across numerous industries, including energy and natural resources.”
