Ethics Committee Dismisses Complaint Against Rep. David Balmer

DENVER (February 2, 2009) - Last week, the Colorado House Ethics Committee dismissed a complaint against Rep. David Balmer, who was represented by Holland & Hart LLP. In a unanimous vote, the committee said there was no evidence Balmer acted inappropriately during his race for minority leader.

The committee looked into whether Balmer asked a lobbyist from the Colorado Chiropractors Association to pressure Aurora Rep. Cindy Acree to support the lawmaker in his bid to become the House Republican's leader.

"We are extremely pleased with the committee's decision," said Jon Anderson, Balmer's lead attorney. "Holland & Hart's lawyers are committed to client service, and our team worked hard to present all the facts, which showed our client did not act inappropriately."
