Compliance Plans: The Why, What, and How

In an age of budget shortfalls and projected program deficits, federal and state agencies are more aggressive than ever in pursuing actions against healthcare providers to recoup program payments. To make matters worse, providers must now self-report and repay overpayments within 60 days or face False Claims Act penalties. Your practice needs an effective compliance program to minimize your exposure to such actions and mitigate program penalties if the government comes calling. Under the Affordable Care Act, compliance plans will soon become mandatory. This IMA webinar will address what you need to know about compliance plans, including:

  • Affordable Care Act requirements for a compliance plan.
  • The benefits of an effective compliance plan, and the risks if you don't have one.
  • The elements of an effective compliance plan, including—
    • common risk areas
    • identifying and authorizing the compliance officer
    • auditing and monitoring
    • reporting and responding to non-compliance
  • Suggestions for evaluating your current plan or creating a new one.
  • Questions and answers concerning compliance plans.

Participants will have access to a sample compliance program that may allow practices to evaluate or build their own compliance plan. We hope you can join us for this practical and timely program.

A registration form is available here or is available on the IMA website. If you have any questions, please contact Chris Cullinan at mail@idmed.org or 208-344-7888.
