Monday and Tuesday, March 15-16, 2010
Vanderbilt Hall, New York University
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is increasingly viewed by global policy makers as a significant climate change mitigation technology. In order to provide effective legislation and regulation for the technology, it has been necessary to remove legal barriers to CCS deployment, make amendments to international and regional marine agreements and introduce new CCS-specific legislation in many jurisdictions worldwide. University College London's Carbon Capture Legal Programme, in conjunction with New York University's School of Law and the Global CCS Institute, is organizing a Global Legal Symposium on CCS, which will examine the emerging legal regimes for CCS in various jurisdictions and focus in particular on the regulatory methods being developed in the United States, Australia and Europe. This Symposium will also provide an opportunity to discuss the forthcoming International Energy Agency Model CCS Legal & Regulatory Framework.
On Day 1 of the program, Holland & Hart attorney Lawrence Wolfe will be speaking on a panel entitled "CO2 Transportation for Storage - Regulatory Perspectives". Abstracts of the presentations will be available prior to the conference from the CCLP website.
