Holland & Hart Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Day of Service at Kearns Jr. High
In celebration of its 20th anniversary in Salt Lake City, Holland & Hart has announced a day of service at Kearns Jr. High School on June 19.

The service project, chosen in response to Gov. Gary Herbert’s “Year of Service in Utah” challenge, will place the firm’s employees, families and friends side by side with the United Way and Kearns Jr. High PTA to rehabilitate and update interior and exterior areas of Kearns Jr. High. The day of service will include transitioning and renovating the computer lab, organizing and inventorying the auditorium’s dressing rooms, landscaping, and other renovations. Holland & Hart also will improve the learning environment of the school by donating and installing new communication tools for students.

“Holland & Hart’s Salt Lake office has experienced tremendous growth since our office opened 20 years ago in 1994,” said Eric Maxfield, the Salt Lake office administrative partner. “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our 20th anniversary than by accepting the governor’s challenge to each participate in an additional 20 hours of community service this year.”

This project will mark Holland & Hart’s second day of service at Kearns Jr. High, following a cleaning and gardening project in 2012 for the United Way’s Day of Caring. In recent years, Holland & Hart has volunteered to refurbish the grounds or provide needed equipment at two other Utah public schools and two local community centers — projects coordinated by The Holland & Hart Foundation, the law firm’s nonprofit organization.

The Holland & Hart Foundation, a 501(c) (3) organization manages opportunities for hands-on volunteerism at the law firm to support the local communities in which Holland & Hart practices professionally. Attorneys and staff members participate in numerous service projects throughout the year organized by The Holland & Hart Foundation. In addition to its nonprofit work, 2014 also marks the third time in five years that Holland & Hart was awarded the Utah State Bar’s Pro Bono Publico Law Firm of the Year Award for legal pro bono and public services.
