Holland & Hart Celebrates 20 Years in Salt Lake City With Day of Service

Holland & Hart Celebrates 20 Years in Salt Lake City With Day of Service
Holland & Hart LLP employees demonstrated their commitment to community service by celebrating the 20th anniversary of the firm’s Salt Lake City office with a full day of service at a local junior high school on June 19.

More than 125 attorneys, staff, family members, clients, and friends rolled-up their sleeves at Kearns Jr. High School where they spent the day painting, landscaping, cleaning lockers, auditorium chairs, and windows, organizing drama costumes and donated clothing, refurbishing two long-jump pits, assembling registration packets, moving musical instruments and furniture to new classrooms, and helping prepare rooms for the fall.

The service project was chosen in response to Gov. Gary Herbert’s “Year of Service in Utah” challenge, which asked citizens of Utah to volunteer an additional 20 hours of service in their communities. Staff from the Governor’s Office attended Holland & Hart’s Day of Service to share a letter of gratitude from Gov. Herbert.

“As Governor, it is my pleasure to congratulate Holland & Hart, LLP, for celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Salt Lake City office,” the Governor said in the letter. “For the past twenty years, your law firm has shown exemplary leadership by providing valuable service to Utah residents through volunteerism.  Indeed, I commend your employees for embracing your company’s core value of giving back to the community by engaging generously in pro bono and public service activities. You have truly earned, for the third time in five years, the Utah State Bar Association’s recognition for this very commitment.”

In recognition of the pro bono and public service performed by the attorneys in the Salt Lake City office, the Utah State Bar named Holland & Hart “Utah Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year” for 2009, 2011, and 2014. On average, the attorneys in the Salt Lake City office commit about 10 percent of their chargeable hours to pro bono and public service each year.

In addition, every year Holland & Hart attorneys and staff perform service through the Holland & Hart Foundation, which fosters volunteer opportunities and allows the firm to give back to its communities by partnering with organizations such as the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, The Road Home, Tree Utah, Angel Tree/Salvation Army, Mothers Without Borders, and the Utah Food Bank.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our 20th anniversary than by accepting the Governor’s challenge for an additional 20 hours of community service,” said Eric Maxfield, Holland & Hart’s Salt Lake City Administrative Partner.

Holland & Hart joined the Salt Lake City legal community in 1994 with an office of four attorneys. Since then, it has become a driving force in the Utah legal community with a full-service office of more than 90 lawyers providing advice on a wide range of legal issues facing Utah businesses.

Holland & Hart’s Salt Lake City attorneys are consistently recognized by leading law firm ranking organizations such as Chambers USA, Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, Benchmark Litigation, The Legal 500 U.S., and the Utah Business “Legal Elite.”
