It was another busy year at the Legislature with respect to employment-related laws. Several bills were proposed covering non-compete agreements, extending Family and Medical Leave Act benefits to smaller employers, changes to the Utah Payment of Wages Act, revisions to the Utah Antidiscrimination Act, and potential equal pay matters and investigations. Come learn about which laws passed, what potential changes remain on the horizon, and what actions you should take immediately to prepare.
In addition, the Legislature and business community jointly funded a research study on Utah-specific non-compete issues, usage, and attitudes, with the results published February 24, 2017. Bryan Benard will give a behind the scenes look at that process, discuss the interesting and informative results, and discuss the likely legislative response.
