Holland & Hart announced the expansion of its Consumer Products industry team with the return of partners Chuck Cotter and Finity Jernigan. Cotter, Jernigan, and a team of lawyers and professionals join the firm from the Denver office of Polsinelli. The team enhances the firm’s strong history of representing consumer brands, particularly in the food, beverage, and natural products industry.
“We are delighted that Chuck, Finity, and this dynamic transactional team are joining Holland & Hart, and their timing couldn’t be better,” said Chris Balch, firm chair. “We had strong financial performance in 2019 with a significant increase in profits per equity partner. To that end, we are committed to exploring and implementing innovative service models that better serve our clients and continue to make Holland & Hart a leading legal service provider. Chuck’s and Finity’s practices, as well as their approach to client service, align perfectly with these goals, and we are fortunate to have them and their team back with us.”
Cotter and Jernigan have developed a robust practice as go-to advisors for more than 100 companies, venture capital funds, and private equity funds in the food, beverage, and consumer products space. Through deep relationships fostered with investors and funds, the team provides clients with access to liquidity at crucial stages, allowing emerging and growth-oriented companies to expand product offerings, open distribution channels, and increase market penetration.
Cotter worked for nine years on Wall Street, practicing at two law firms and as in-house counsel at a major hedge fund before originally joining Holland & Hart in 2012.
“Returning to Holland & Hart is like coming home,” said Cotter. “By investing significant resources in technology tools and process efficiencies, the firm can nimbly adapt to our clients’ business needs and to changes in the legal industry. The firm’s collaborative approach and commitment to teamwork create an environment where our team can both grow existing client relationships and forge new strategic partnerships.”
Jernigan practiced at Gibson Dunn and served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Colorado before originally joining Holland & Hart in 2016.
“I am excited about the opportunity to take our practice to the next level,” said Jernigan. “Holland & Hart has worked with brands and funds in the consumer products space for years. The firm’s lineup of specialist teams, such as Intellectual Property and Tax, is familiar with our clients’ industry, understands their business challenges and legal needs, and will provide outstanding support for our team.”
