Molly supports our State and Local Tax attorneys on matters related to property, sales, and income tax.

She performs research that informs the attorneys’ tax planning and analysis efforts, and assists with compliance matters and audits. Molly also helps prepare motions and briefs; drafts petitions, discovery requests, and discovery responses; and provides litigation support at the administrative, district, and appellate court levels.

Molly has over 25 years of experience working in the tax industry, including more than 10 years as a State and Local Tax paralegal.

Experience

Molly has significant experience:

  • Researching multi-state issues for all tax types (using Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, and various other computer resources)
  • Drafting pleadings, tax memoranda, discovery requests, and discovery responses
  • Assisting with trial and hearing preparation, including witness deposition
  • Managing documents for complex litigation cases
  • Working directly with the Multistate Tax Commission and individual states to file Voluntary Disclosure Agreements
  • Preparing and analyzing contracts and trust and estate documents
  • Preparing and analyzing detailed Excel spreadsheets
  • Analyzing Expert Reports
  • Supporting briefings before the Utah Supreme Court, Utah Tax Court, and Utah Tax Commission
  • Preparing tax legislative updates for the ABA Property Tax Deskbook, the ABA Sales Tax Deskbook, and Counsel on State Tax (COST) Newsletters
