Holland & Hart’s Engels Tejeda was honored as a recipient of the Westminster 2019 Unsung Hero Award by Westminster College’s Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. As a Westminster College alumnus, this award recognizes Engels’ selfless and undying commitment to building community, unity, and diversity at Westminster and within his scope of influence. He received the award at the Westminster Unity Luncheon held on Jan. 25 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As a trial attorney, Engels regularly appears in federal and state courts representing businesses and individuals in wide range of matters from consumer claims defense to cybersecurity and privacy litigation, banking litigation, and creditors’ rights in bankruptcy.
Engels shares Holland & Hart's commitment to diversity and is an active member of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. He is committed to improving diversity within the legal profession through his extensive involvement with the Utah Minority Bar Association – both as a mentor and as a member – as well as the LGBT & Allied Lawyers of Utah, the National LGBT Bar Association, and the Hispanic National Bar Association. As a Westminster College alumnus, he has served as a mentor in the Alumni Mentoring Program for over ten years. Engels received his J.D. from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2006, and serves as a judge pro tempore in the small claims division of the Salt Lake City Justice Court.
