Environmental Litigation

Holland & Hart handles complex environmental litigation that threatens business operations.

Our litigators work with clients to develop a roadmap that avoids disruptions and keeps projects moving forward. When litigation arises, we defend clients against challenges brought by NGOs, governments, tribes, and other project stakeholders. Whether it’s defending a permit, opposing federal rulemaking, litigating enforcement actions, or handling commercial disputes involving natural resources, Holland & Hart’s environmental litigation teams vigorously protect clients’ interests before state and federal regulatory bodies and in district courts, federal appellate courts, and the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

We advocate on behalf of businesses and trade associations on rulemakings and rulemaking challenges that involve environmental statutes, such as the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.

Each team is made up of experienced environmental litigators, many of whom have served in key policy and enforcement roles in state and federal agencies. We also have extensive experience negotiating and implementing settlement agreements in class actions and with state and federal regulators, many of which require court or agency approval.
