Our team offers unparalleled experience in environmental compliance and enforcement issues critical to our clients.

Our clients benefit from the technical expertise offered by attorneys that specialize in air quality, water quality, and waste management issues, as well as deep relationships we have fostered and maintain with federal and state regulators and policy makers throughout the country. Our team includes lawyers with decades of experience in their respective fields, including many who have served in key policy development and enforcement roles with state agencies, EPA and the Department of Justice. We have credibility with decision-makers to resolve conflicting interpretations of regulatory obligations and develop compliance solutions that work for our clients.

We represent clients in air quality compliance and enforcement matters throughout the United States, with a depth of experience representing clients before state air quality divisions and boards throughout our footprint, as well as EPA Headquarters and Regions 8, 9, and 10.  Our air quality boasts a unique combination of strong technical expertise, coupled with local, state and federal connections, which allow us to effectively guide our clients through air quality compliance and enforcement  matters of varying scope.

We work with clients to resolve complex water quality matters under the Clean Water Act and state water quality statutes and regulations.  Whether navigating complicated wastewater and stormwater compliance matters at historic and operating mine sites, guiding municipal and industrial clients through the wastewater discharge permit process, obtaining Section 404 permits for large infrastructure projects, resolving significant civil and criminal EPA enforcement actions, or defending citizen suits, we have been on the cutting edge of high-profile water quality matters and have the depth of experience to provide strategic counsel to our clients.

We help clients transform both active and inactive “contaminated” properties into economically viable developments that once again add value to the communities in which they are located. Our attorneys also advise clients regarding how to conduct voluntary cleanups, thereby eliminating potential concerns before they result in federal or state enforcement actions. Finally, we help clients negotiate agreements or take advantage of statutory protections to limit their exposure for environmental liabilities.
