Clarissa Collier Receives 2016 Gary McPherson Award for Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year

Congratulations to Clarissa Collier, associate in the Denver office, who is the 2016 recipient of the Gary McPherson Award for Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year by the Colorado Bar Association (CBA). Each year the CBA recognizes a young Colorado lawyer for his or her outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the community.

The award is presented in honor of Gary McPherson, a Colorado state representative who was killed in a plane crash at the age of 37. McPherson was a devoted public servant who was active in the bar association and the Young Lawyers Division. Gary McPherson was named Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year in 1993, and the award was renamed in his honor after his death in 2000.

Clarissa was one of three finalists interviewed by a CBA panel after completing detailed nomination materials. Since becoming an attorney in 2008, Clarissa has contributed more than 1,500 hours serving community organizations and non-profits, organizations that support the legal profession, and pro bono legal clients, all while developing a successful career as a litigator and export controls/trade sanctions attorney. Her numerous contributions include her role as a CBA delegate to the America Bar Association, Co-Chair and Holland & Hart Associates Campaign representative for the Legal Aid Foundation of Colorado, board member of Ray of Hope Cancer Foundation, and many pro bono cases through the Faculty of Federal Advocates, Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, and firm referrals.
