Holland & Hart Of Counsel Sean Parnell was appointed to the Alaska Economic Stabilization Team (AEST) by Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy. Sean Parnell and former US Senator Mark Begich are leading a bipartisan, non-political effort to better protect the state’s economy from the impact of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in Alaska. The team is reaching out to businesses and communities in all economic sectors to gain information and devise strategies to address economic stabilization. That information is being passed to the Office of the Governor and will be informing the governor’s and legislators’ decisions in the days and weeks ahead.
AEST is innovating in a virtual team environment connecting via video conference and teleconference and creating a hub and spoke concept for Alaskans to communicate more information to decisionmakers. Each Alaskan becomes a “hub” and reaches out to their contacts in their own business sector to gain information and strategies for decision-makers to consider. The hub passes information directly to Sean Parnell and Mark Begich who compile the information, strategically connect dots with existing policy initiatives at the state, federal, and local levels, and convey that information to the attention of decision-makers. AEST is working closely with the Office of the Governor and legislators, and is augmenting the state’s comprehensive response to COVID-19.
Sean Parnell leverages more than 30 years of public service and legal expertise serving the business, regulatory, and infrastructure development needs of the companies that drive Alaska’s economy. During his years of service as Alaska’s Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and as a state Senator and Representative, as well as the Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas, Sean developed a thorough understanding of all aspects of commercial development in Alaska. As an attorney, Sean’s exceptional experience across decades ranges from commercial litigation to negotiating complex commercial transactions as a former partner in another top-tier law firm and as a sole practitioner.
