Mr. Schramm is a patent attorney in the Intellectual Property Group. He has years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications for clients ranging from individuals to major corporations.
Mr. Schramm has a degree in electrical engineering, and is particularly familiar with electronics, computer systems, complex telecommunications, software, and networking. As an employee of a private research and development firm, he participated in the development of a computer network of electronic devices situated along an underground drill string during oil and gas exploration. He also was a member of a team that developed an electrical model of data transmission through interconnected drill string components.
He has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in various technological fields, with particular emphasis in telecommunications, electrical designs, system architectures, computer networks, streaming media, encryption, digital communications, printing devices and media, display devices, optical data transmission media, software, medical devices, mechanical designs, and underground mineral resource exploration.
Mr. Schramm believes in the efficacy of informed negotiation and cordiality in his interactions with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Using this philosophy, he has helped clients achieve favorable outcomes from difficult patent prosecution scenarios.
Immediately prior to joining Holland & Hart, Mr. Schramm was a patent agent for a regional firm in Salt Lake City. Prior to his work for that firm, he worked for a number of years at a national intellectual property boutique firm.
Mr. Schramm is licensed to practice in Colorado and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
