Mr. Ramirez joined Holland & Hart's Litigation Department in 2003. His practice focuses on business litigation with an influence in insurance coverage. His extensive experience in insurance coverage includes 15 years of supervising litigation for a $5 billion national property and casualty company prior to law school. As a litigation supervisor, he was responsible for overseeing complex coverage disputes involving construction, environmental and product liability cases.
At Holland & Hart, Mr. Ramirez has represented policyholders in a variety of insurance cases. These cases include commercial general liability, commercial property, directors & officers, errors & omissions, life, health, fidelity and surety bonds, and excess/umbrella insurance. In addition, Mr. Ramirez has consulted business professionals on risk management issues, including maximizing the possibility of insurance coverage by examining existing exposures.
Mr. Ramirez was named The Outstanding New Hispanic Lawyer of 2005 by the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association and served as the organization's President in 2008. Mr. Ramirez was one of 24 lawyers nationwide selected to the inaugural American Bar Association's TIPS Leadership Academy. In 2008, Mr. Ramirez was recognized as one of Colorado's "Up-And-Coming Lawyers" by Law Week Colorado.
RECENT CASES
West Coast Life Ins. Co., v. Hoar, 558 F.3d 1151, (10th Cir. 2009), prevailed on a motion for summary judgment rescinding a $3 million life insurance policy for misrepresentations in an application.
Westcor v. Travelers, 2006 WL 1752338 (D.Colo), prevailed on motion for partial summary judgment preventing Travelers from removing a $200 million Earth Movement Extension of coverage at renewal.
