Ms. Burton has over 25 years experience in all areas of bankruptcy law. She has represented creditors, debtors, committees, and trustees in all types of cases under the Bankruptcy Code, with extensive experience in chapter 11 reorganizations, but also with a wealth of experience in cases under chapters 7, 12 and 13. She also has extensive experience in sales of bankruptcy assets through private sales and auctions, having represented purchasers, trustees and debtors in negotiating and completing such sales. Her bankruptcy work has encompassed a wide variety of businesses, including mining, manufacturing, transportation, retail, real estate operations and development, health and retirement care, technology and telecommunications, agriculture, and many others. Ms. Burton has participated in a number of the larger bankruptcy cases in Utah and Nevada, including Bonneville Pacific Corporation, Clark Financial Corporation, Desert Power, Eneco, Inc., Geneva Steel, Great Basin Trucks, North Silver Lake Lodge, Tesco American, and Vescor Capital.
In addition, Ms. Burton has represented both borrowers and lenders in out-of-bankruptcy-court workouts, restructurings and liquidations. She also has extensive experience in bankruptcy trials and appeals, having represented creditors, debtors, and trustees in a wide variety of preference, fraudulent transfer and other bankruptcy related actions in bankruptcy and federal courts. Ms. Burton is licensed to practice law in the states of Utah and Texas, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Burton is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy, an exclusive honorary association of bankruptcy and insolvency professionals.
