What does it take to preserve world rainforests? Will Connelly knows.
Will Connelly is an environmental steward in the truest sense of the words. What started in 1988 as a vacation to Costa Rica evolved into a groundbreaking agreement with the Costa Rican government to protect its rainforests and help mitigate the progression of global warming.
Will co-founded the non-profit organization Pax Natura, which means "Peace With Nature." Pax Natura sells carbon credits derived from avoided deforestation. Funds from these purchases go directly to the Costa Rican government to subsidize the preservation of 60,000 acres of rainforest on private lands, which will help reduce the percentage of carbon dioxide emissions caused by deforestation. Globally, deforestation contributes to 22% of all manmade carbon dioxide emissions.
On September 19, 2007, representatives from Pax Natura and Holland & Hart delivered the first of ten checks for $1 million to Costa Rican President Oscar Arias at the signing of their historic environmental agreement.
Holland & Hart is proud to serve resourceful clients such as Pax Natura because we, like them, constantly strive to provide innovative solutions for our clients. Visit our website to learn more about Holland & Hart. |
