Working closely with the company’s board and leadership team, Sean is the lead corporate counsel with responsibility for securities matters, corporate governance, the intellectual property portfolio, and the complex regulatory issues that face a global public company. He also supports the Secretary and General Counsel as Assistant Secretary to the Board. In addition, he leads the company’s compliance program and oversees the risk management organization. Sean joined IHS in 2004 to take the company public. Prior to joining IHS, Sean was in-house counsel for WilTel Communications during its rise as a public company, its successful reorganization in a New York bankruptcy court, and the sale of the business. Sean also spent many years in private practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma, advising public and private companies on complex business transactions, securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, and corporate governance.
